Nam Kee is one of Amsterdam's best-known Chinese restaurants. A few years ago Kees van Beijnum's book, 'De Oesters van Nam Kee' (Nam Kee's oysters) was published.

Though Nam Kee's Oysters does not deal with the Zeedijk (the historic Amsterdam street on which Nam Kee is located), and the restaurant does not feature as prominently as the title may suggest, the book is a good read. And then there's the movie, which featured...

 Work hard and keep smiling... but Lau seems to have eaten something spicey. Many tourists know how to find their way to Nam Kee. The food is excellent; the taste and quality has not changed over the years, and is highly rated in Ien's Amsterdam restaurant guide.

it also reveals some of the history of the Chinese in Amsterdam
